I hate/love this time of year – the dwindling summer days that fly so quickly by, but it’s always exciting getting ready to meet a new group of students! Gearing up for introductions, I decided to find a song to reinforce the expressions “cómo te llamas,” and “mucho gusto”. I was bummed trying to find something that was authentic and age appropriate for my high schoolers. So, I took things into my own hands…

I composed simple lyrics and plugged them into suno.com. I chose for the music “reggaetón, fiesta, dance” for style to get something upbeat. AI did the rest – the music, vocals. I think it will be a hit!

With my Spanish 2s, I don’t know that much vocabulary pre-loading will be necessary, but for your convenience I made a quizlet flashcards set just for this song. You could do a quizlet live or have the students review the flashcards before listening to the song if you’d like.

Of course you can just play the song and have your students sing along, create dance moves for it, or even do karaoke!

I also created the following two pages of activities to accompany the song. You can do either one or both. The lyrics are included on both sheets for your convenience.
