There are a lot of ways to bring the school year to a close and not every way works for everyone. This year I personally feel like a soldier marching back from war and don’t have the mental bandwidth for much at this point. As you can see, I haven’t blogged for a minute and I really don’t have time now either. My husband is battling a major illness and it’s about all I can do to keep my head up and keep moving forward with a smile on my face! So I’m ending the year with something easy to grade and that celebrates what my students can do. We’re reading a graphic novel!
You can do that? Yes! It’s my favorite way to end the year. There is a double advantage of doing it the Señor Wooly way: not only can you level everything to where your students are (novice low, novice mid, novice high or intermediate low), but there are plenty of easy-to-grade activities all ready to go for you. If you want more than what is on senorwooly.com, you can access the Señor Wooly collab drive (see the Woology Facebook group for more info).
We are reading La Casa de la Dentista and the sequel La Ciudad de la Dentista. They are super creepy and engaging. Students are on the edge of their seats! Some of my favorite activities for these are:
- Story-ask the images – especially ones that don’t have dialogue.
- Read as a whole class using the audio. It almost reads like watching a video, pausing and checking for comprehension!
- Use Señor Wooly lesson plans for La Ciudad de la Dentista. They are complete for 5 days of interactive fun at 4 different proficiency levels. See my students having a great time in the images on the right!
- Try this scavenger hunt I found on the Wooly Collab drive!
- Good ole nuggets – reading/listening comprehension exercises that are gamified and include student choice

Thank you, Señor Wooly for helping me send my students into summer with a bang!
